Method

  1. Preheat the oven.
  2. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper if desired.
  3. Prepare the mixture.
  4. Add the lean ground beef, pumpkin puree, egg, and rolled oats to a large mixing bowl.
  5. Mix gently.
  6. Combine the ingredients with clean hands or a spoon until everything is evenly incorporated. Avoid overmixing, which can make the patties dense.
  7. Adjust the mixture.
  8. If the mixture feels unusually dry, add the water gradually, a tablespoon at a time, until it holds together easily.
  9. Shape the patties.
  10. Divide the mixture into approximately 12 portions and gently flatten each portion into a small patty.
  11. Arrange the patties.
  12. Place the patties on the prepared baking sheet with a little space between each one.
  13. Bake.
  14. Bake for approximately 18 to 20 minutes, or until the beef is completely cooked through. Ground beef should reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
  15. Cool completely.
  16. Remove the patties from the oven and allow them to cool completely before serving.
  17. Serve and store.
  18. Give an appropriate portion based on your dog's size and overall diet. Refrigerate leftovers promptly or freeze individual patties for longer storage.
RECIPE NOTES
  1. Use plain pumpkin puree only. Pumpkin pie filling often contains added sugar, spices, or other ingredients that are not appropriate for dogs.
  2. Do not add salt, onion, garlic, seasoning blends, sauces, butter, or other flavorings to the patties.
  3. These patties are best used as an occasional treat or meal topper unless the recipe has been professionally formulated to provide complete and balanced nutrition for your dog's individual needs.
  4. Always cool the patties completely before serving. Introduce new foods gradually and adjust portions according to your dog's size, calorie needs, and regular diet.
