DIY Watermelon Carrot Pupsicles

These DIY watermelon carrot pupsicles are a refreshing homemade frozen treat for dogs made with fresh watermelon and carrot. They are easy to prepare, naturally hydrating, and perfect for warm days.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 2 hours 10 minutes
Servings: 12 pupsicles
Course: Dog Treats

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Seedless watermelon I use fresh watermelon as the hydrating fruit base for these pupsicles.
  • 1/2 cup Carrot I use fresh carrot for a little natural sweetness fiber, and color.
  • 1/4 cup Water I use this only if needed to help the ingredients blend smoothly.

Equipment

  • Blender: 1 Silicone popsicle or dog treat molds: 1 Measuring cup: 1 Freezer: 1

Method

  1. Prepare the watermelon
  2. Cut the watermelon into small pieces and remove all seeds and rind. Measure 2 cups and add it to a blender.
  3. Prepare the carrot
  4. Peel the carrot and cut it into small pieces. If the carrot is particularly firm, lightly steam it and allow it to cool completely before blending.
  5. Blend the ingredients
  6. Add the carrot to the blender with the watermelon. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth. Add a small amount of water only if needed to help everything blend.
  7. Fill the molds
  8. Pour the mixture into silicone popsicle or dog treat molds. Leave a little space at the top because the mixture will expand as it freezes.
  9. Freeze
  10. Place the molds on a flat surface in the freezer. Freeze for at least 2 hours, or until the pupsicles are completely solid.
  11. Serve
  12. Remove a pupsicle from the mold and let it sit for a minute or two before giving it to your dog. Serve as an occasional treat rather than replacing a regular meal.
Recipe Notes
  1. Always remove watermelon seeds and rind before preparing these treats. Watermelon rind can be difficult for dogs to digest, and seeds should be removed before serving.
  2. These pupsicles are best served in moderation because watermelon naturally contains sugar. If your dog has a sensitive stomach, start with a small portion.
  3. Store the frozen pupsicles in an airtight freezer-safe container or bag for up to 2 weeks for the best texture and freshness.
