Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mash the banana in a mixing bowl until mostly smooth.
- Add the peanut butter and stir until well combined.
- Gradually add the oat flour and mix until a firm dough begins to form.
- Add the water one tablespoon at a time until the dough is soft but easy to handle.
- Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and roll it to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut the dough into narrow strips or small chew stick shapes appropriate for your dog.
- Arrange the sticks on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for approximately 20 to 25 minutes, or until firm and lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and allow the chew sticks to cool completely before serving.
Recipe Notes
- Use natural peanut butter with no xylitol. Check the label carefully before using it.
- These homemade sticks are baked treats, not indestructible dental chews. Always supervise your dog while eating them and choose a size appropriate for your dog's chewing ability.
- Store completely cooled treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator and use within a few days. Freeze extras for longer storage.
