Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Add the pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and egg to a mixing bowl.
- Stir until the ingredients are evenly combined.
- Gradually add the oat flour and mix until a soft dough forms.
- Roll the dough to about 1/4 inch thick on a lightly floured surface.
- Cut the dough into small, dog friendly shapes using a cookie cutter.
- Arrange the treats on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for approximately 18 to 20 minutes, or until the treats are firm and lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and allow the treats to cool completely.
- Spread a thin layer of plain Greek yogurt over each cooled treat.
- Place the iced treats in the refrigerator for about 15 to 20 minutes to allow the icing to firm slightly before serving.
Recipe Notes
- Use plain pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling.
- The peanut butter must be xylitol free. Check the ingredient label carefully because some peanut butter products contain sweeteners that are unsafe for dogs.
- For the icing, use plain unsweetened Greek yogurt without added sweeteners.
- Because the yogurt icing adds moisture, these treats should be refrigerated and used within a few days. You can also freeze them for longer storage.
- These are treats and should be served in moderation alongside your dog's regular complete and balanced food.
