Peanut Butter Popsicles for Dogs (Pupsicles)

These peanut butter pupsicles are a fun frozen treat made with natural peanut butter, banana, plain yogurt, and pumpkin. I blend the ingredients into a creamy mixture and freeze them into popsicle shapes, making a cool homemade treat that is especially nice on warm days.

Method

  1. Peel the banana and cut it into smaller pieces.
  2. Add the banana, peanut butter, plain yogurt, and pumpkin puree to a blender.
  3. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy.
  4. Pour the mixture evenly into the popsicle molds.
  5. Insert the popsicle sticks into the center of each mold.
  6. Place the molds in the freezer and freeze for approximately 2 hours, or until the pupsicles are completely firm.
  7. Remove the pupsicles from the molds by briefly running the outside of the mold under warm water.
  8. Let the pupsicles soften slightly before serving if they are too firm for your dog.
  9. Serve an appropriately sized portion based on your dog's size.
Recipe Notes
  1. Peanut Butter Safety: Use natural peanut butter that contains no xylitol or other artificial sweeteners. Check the ingredient label carefully before using it.
  2. Yogurt Tip: Use plain unsweetened yogurt with no added sugar, artificial sweeteners, or flavoring.
  3. Banana Tip: Use a ripe banana without any spoiled or moldy areas. The banana provides natural sweetness without needing added sugar.
  4. Texture Tip: These pupsicles freeze firm. Allow them to sit for a few minutes before serving if needed, especially for smaller dogs.
  5. Storage: Keep the pupsicles frozen in an airtight freezer safe container for up to 2 weeks for the best quality.
  6. Common Mistake to Avoid: Do not use peanut butter containing xylitol, chocolate, added sugar, or other ingredients that are unsafe for dogs. Avoid using popsicle sticks if your dog tends to chew or swallow them.
  7. Serving: Give these pupsicles as an occasional frozen treat, especially on warm days. Always supervise your dog while enjoying a pupsicle and remove the stick once the frozen treat has been eaten. Treats should complement, rather than replace, your dog's complete and balanced diet.
